The history of childhood and youth

The course takes Phillipe Aries' book Barndommens historie its point of departure. Part one gives an introduction to the content of the book and related discussions, and focuses the concept of social construction. Part two presents children and youth in three historical eras: the classical/Roman era, the middle ages in Europe and the modern era.
Lectures, seminars, one written assignment of about 3000 words, with one hour individual supervision.
One indivdually written examination. Weight: 67%.
One multiple choice test. Weight: 33%.
If one of the examinations are failed, and the examation is repeated more than one year later, the student has to repeat both examinations.
