Communication and reflection in social work

It is expected that students have gained knowledge from the previous courses of the programme.
Students will be able to develop their communicational skills and their ability of reflection in their future work with individual clients. They will become familiar with organisations and institutions where social workers are employed.
Students will get an introduction to ethics, identifying ethical questions, using theory and analysing situations relevant for social workers. Theories of communication and relations is presented, focussing the introduction and usage of a model of interacton. Students will become familiar with the basical principles of economic councelling, how to develop an individual plan and how to communicate this in a client oriented manner. Doing independent work in the field through oral and written presentations is an integral part of the course, based on knowledge gained from social science, law and social work methods.
Lectures, seminars and groups.
One oral group examination. Grading: passed or failed.
